Much Ado About Nothing We have taken pride in the fact that each year we have presented a local production of one of Shakespeare’s plays and what could be more in keeping with our theme this year than his rollicking “Much Ado About Nothing”. This comedy explores the fiery relationship between the arrogant Benedick and the feisty Beatrice, as well as the love between Hero and Claudio. There is a villain, Don John, who plans on wrecking things between Hero and Claudio. But, with Shakespeare’s help, of course, he is defeated and the lovers are reunited. As you might expect, Beatrice and Benedick finally admit that, in spite of all their sniping and scoffing at one another, they too, are in love. We probably guessed that from the beginning, but how they get to this point is one of the delights of the play. |
Directed by Alexis Ingram. A well known local actor. She has been actively involved with the festival for eleven years and many know her roles in Eye2Eye Theatre productions. This is the second play Alexis has directed for the festival. |
