We welcome you to our Twentieth Festival! A blare of Trumpets please!

The bard has been revered since his early days in Stratford upon Avon and
later
in the great city of London. Throughout the world Shakespeare’s plays and
sonnets are enthusiastically studied buy young and old alike, both in traditional
and modern versions.
This year’s program emphasizes Songwritingand we are thrilled to encourage the
youth of the Wellington region to workshop and record their compositions under
the professional guidance of Charles Jenkins. With Romeo & Juliet as our play
of choice this year there is plenty of scope for exploring emotions of love,
conflict,
tragedy – can we hope for peace and reconciliation?
Romeo and his Juliet were the original “starcrossed lovers”. Did you now that the
mailbox at the 13th century Capulet Palace in the Italian city of Verona still
receives letter addressed to them? Come along and enjoy the works of our great
playwright presented in acting, songwriting, film music and all the fun of the fair!
